Today's Lesson is all about music and I shall start with Lil' B. Now alot of people don't like Lil B because they think he's gay, stupid and just an all around embarrassment to hip-hop as a whole. The question that I have is, are we feeding into the stigma that all music has to be dumbed down? Lil B has alot of really REALLY stupid songs (Based Freestyles) but he also has alot of really intelligent, thoughtfully written and eloquently executed songs as well. The reason WHY Brandon McCartney is so popular is because believe it or not... People would rather listen to the bullshit that he puts out instead of listening to the more lyrical music. If Brandon came out with an album of nothing but based freestyles and threw it on iTunes? He'd sell 10,000,000 in the first 10 minutes. We as a generation have become so desensitized that we can't even relate to real ANYTHING anymore. There was a time where you could have a fair fight, discuss things maturely, and release quality music that had a message. These days the television and video games are raising out little boys to think that shooting people in the face is an okay thing to do, websites like world star hip hop are teaching our little girls that the only value they have is shaking their ass on camera for 45 year old perverts to jack off to, and teaching our younger babies that this is the society that they should live in. Are we feeding into the stigma's that rappers in 2011 should be ignorant and uneducated? The answer my darlings is YES. As educated as Brandon McCartney is, He will ALWAYS have to dumb down his level of intelligence in his music because people don't want to hear TRUTH. People want to hear Money, Cars, Clothes and Hoes. There was a time where people like Common could release an album and sell MILLIONS. Now a days people who have nothing to say can sell a mill with there eyes closed. Look at Waka Flocka. Some people say "Well Waka makes fight music" but WHY would you be proud of something like that. Why would you be proud that whenever you perform at a club somebody either gets Jumped, Stabbed, Shot at or Busted in the head with a bottle? Why would you be proud of the fact that You can't safely go to certain cities because people are shooting up your tour bus? Is that really something we should be proud of? No, but the younger ones in this generation think thats what makes you a "Gangster". Sweeties, I know some REAL thugs who can tell you that half of the thing portrayed in these music videos, is NOT real. You should DEMAND that rappers put out better music! You should DEMAND to be taught something when you turn on a record! Women you should DEMAND to stop being objectified in these music videos! I can tell you right now, that is NOT the life you want for yourself or your children. Do you remember the uncut tip drill video? That young lady who was face down ass up getting a credit card slid down the crack of her ass? That video is NEVER going anywhere. 25 years from now do you want your kids to look at a video of you bouncing your ass and letting men slide credit cards down your ass crack? NO. So... with all of this being said... Lets let go of these Stigmas and teach these babies something real.
