Getting Your Swagger Right

Alot of people see pictures on the web all the time of celebrities with bad make up. Yes we laugh at them and wonder... Who did their make up!? Thats always the question, but often times we wear make up the wrong way! So for my girlys and boys who love make up but can't seem to figure out HOW to keep it from Looking a mess Here are a few tips just for you!

Tip #1: Know your skin
You should always know your skin before picking a concealer or foundation. If you have Dry skin then picking a foundation is detrimental to a fresh, smooth look. For those of you with Dry Skin then the you should Try the listed foundations below:

Clinique Super Moisture Foundation
Revlon Colourstay
Rimmel Lasting Finish
Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid
Mac Mineralize Satin Finish Liquid

If you have OILY or ACNE PRONE skin you should be careful not to apply a very thick layer of foundation. Use a make-up sponge to apply a thin layer of foundation. Using your fingers can transfer more oil to the skin and thats just not what you need

Tip #2: Choose a good base
If you are wondering WHY your foundation doesn't last for more then an Hour its probably because you have not used a good base to prime the skin. The base or primer you choose should depend on your skin type. Bases come in different colors and each color base does something different for the skin. If You have a problem with acne or redness you need a GREEN base. For those who deal with swelling you may want to use a PURPLE base. To Brighten your complexion and bring out those natural undertones use a PINK base. You can find a base in your local CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid and or Walmart.

Tip #3: Know what colors flatter you
Now! I hate to make it a light skin vs. dark skin thing, but lets be completely honest. I've seen some lighter woman wearing dark colors that DO NOT compliment them and I've seen even more dark complected woman wearing bright colors that make them look like clowns! Wear color combinations that best compliment your complextion. Lighter women (That means white women, latin women, and fair skinned to caramel complected black women) Wear the brighter colors to bring out your natural color. Darker Skinned women its okay to wear bright colors just not NEON colors! Wear colors that will naturally bring out your eye color and highlight your already gorgeous complexion.

Tip #4: Fire Truck Red Lip Stick is NOT for Everyone
If you have pale skin then The bright red lipstick is DEFINITELY for you. If you have a healthy glow to your skin (that goes for black women too) DO NOT wear fire truck red lipstick! Especially if you have very full lips. Most bright lipsticks and lipglosses are meant to accentuate and create a more full lip look for women who have thin lips. If you have Phaedra Parks lips... DO NOT put on bright red lipstick! Its not that it looks bad, but doesn't compliment you! If you have full lips, stick to the light colored lipsticks and the pretty lipglosses. Don't go over board with the lip gloss either ladies! Full lips + a lot of lip gloss = disaster!

Tip #5: Don't Cake On Your Make Up
With every tip that is given, this last tip has to be the most important because it ties all the other ones together. When doing a look do not cake on your make up. A little bit goes a long way! Caked on make up is not only unattractive, but its bad for the skin. Ladies you can have that healthy glow without caking on loads and loads of foundation and powder. Make sure you blend your foundation so that there are no creases or foundation lines. Always set your foundation using a loose powder (always tap the brush to get rid of excess powder). Use eyeshadows that compliment your complexion as well as your natural eye color, and Use lip colors that can bring together your entire look.
